Zwolle is known as a bicycle city, therefore the accessibility of public transport by bike is very important for the city. The new station square and accompanying bicycle parking facility are therefore designed to allow passengers to travel to and from the station by bicycle as comfortably as possible.
Last December, the bicycle parking facility was put into operation. It offers space for 5,800 bicycles, making it the second largest guarded bicycle parking facility in the Netherlands.
Many positive reactions to a video of the Zwolle parking facility, shared on social media by Dutch Cycle Embassy:
Jennifer Moore reacts that she would also like to see such a parking facility back in her own city: ’This is the kind of thing we need in Notthingham City!’
From Bourg-la-Reine (France) someone writes that compared to the Netherlands, the country is not years but light-years behind.
When will such a ‘Radstation’ be opened in Braunschweig, wonders Jens Schütte.
And he is not the only one. Krister Isaksson would like to see a similar storage facility opened in Stockholm.
